Welcome to The Center for Human Equality
At The Center for Human Equality, we believe that every human being is a unique universe of value, deserving of respect not because of their group identity but because of their individual worth. Founded by Rabbi Russell McAlmond, our Executive Director, we champion Ethical Individualism—a philosophy that rejects group judgmentalism in all its forms and promotes equality of respect for every person, not just certain categories. Here, diversity isn’t about race, gender, or creed; it’s about the singular mind, character, and potential each of us brings to the world.
Rabbi McAlmond, a Universal Judaism leader from Oregon, established The Center to counter the divisive tide of group-based thinking—where people are judged by their skin color, religion, or politics rather than their actions and humanity. “We cannot heal a fractured world by sorting humans into tribes,” he says. “True equality begins when we honor each person as they are.” Martin Luther King Jr. affirmed this vision, declaring, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” This call to prioritize character—an individual trait—over skin color—a group trait—echoes our belief that treating people as unique individuals surpasses the shallow lens of group judgments.
Our mission is to foster a society where respect is universal, not selective. Through workshops, dialogues, and outreach, we teach that every interaction—whether in workplaces, schools, or neighborhoods—should reflect this truth: no group defines you, and no category limits your worth. We oppose all forms of group judgmentalism—racial stereotypes, religious biases, ideological litmus tests—because they obscure the equal dignity of every human being.
Join us in building a world where individuality unites us, not divides us. At The Center for Human Equality, we don’t see groups—we see people. Equal, unique, and irreplaceable.

Our Executive Director is Rabbi Russell McAlmond who wrote a book on the concept of "Ethical Individualism: Equality for Everyone." "To be truly inclusive any human relational philosophy must recognize the uniqueness of every individual. To promote human dignity, we must also recognize that there are no hierarchies with human beings, no superior or inferior classes, but equality of respect for all." Rabbi Russell McAlmond - Executive Director and Founder
